Biography

Bonjour! My name is Wendy Parsons, and I am known to my students as Mme Parsons. I am originally from Yellowknife, but have called Grande Prairie home since 2005. I completed my post secondary education at the University of Calgary, where I earned a Bachelor of Social Work and a Bachelor of Education degree. I, myself, am a product of French Immersion, so I am always so excited to promote the benefits of having a second language, and feel fortunate to be able to teach in French and spread the love of our other official Canadian language. I am married to a wonderful man named Gene, have a daughter, Sarah, who is in grade 6 here at St. Gerard, as well as 3 teenage step-children. We also have a lively and fluffy dog named Daisy, who keeps us entertained.

I will be your child's grade 4 teacher this year, and I am super excited to meet up with my new "kids"! Grade 4 brings with it some new responsibilities, and also some new freedoms. We have a lot of hands on learning planned for this year, so I hope that my students will be ready to dive in with me on the first day of school to begin our journey together. I have high expectations for myself as a teacher, and also for my students. I know that students are capable of great things, and I encourage and expect my students to push themselves to always do their best at whatever they are working on.

I communicate regularly with parents, as this link between home and school is essential for student success. I usually send out at least one email per week, a monthly newsletter, and various other reminders through the Remind app, student agendas, or phone calls home. I can be reached by email at wendyparsons@gpcsd.ca, by phoning the school at (780) 532-5398, or by writing a note in your child's agenda. We do use our agendas daily, so please help your child by developing a habit of checking and signing the agenda daily.

I am looking forward to a great year together. Please contact me if you have any questions, concerns, or if you want to volunteer in our class.
