Taryn Carrell

Teachers - Kindergarten

My name is Taryn Carrell and I teach the second Tuesday/Thursday kindergarten class at St. Gerard. I began teaching here during the 1999/2000 school year. I’ve taught all grades from k-6.  I remained at St. Gerard’s before resigning in 2006 to stay home and raise my family. I came back into the district as a substitute teacher in the spring of 2010, but spent one year teaching grade 4 at Mother Teresa.

I have been married to my husband Clint, who is the GPCSD IT Administrator since December 2000. We have been blessed 4 times over with the arrival of our children through both birth and adoption! My children all attend schools in the GPCSD district.

I have many interests and hobbies that occupy my time when I am not teaching. I am a very busy dance mom as I make all onstage accessories/headpieces/backdrops for the competitive groups at our studio. This year marks my 8th as Chairperson for Gingerbread Lane at the QEII Festival of Trees and my 17th as a designer. During the summer my family and I spend our days at our summer spot at Shaw’s Point in Slave Lake, Alberta.

My faith is very important to me. Each year my girls and I spend 2 weeks in Turner Valley AB helping to run Captivenia, which is an all-girls Catholic medieval bible camp. Exemplifying God’s love and creating a safe and peaceful environment in my classroom is my favorite part of being a teacher.

I am truly excited about our year ahead!
